At Gingers we offer not only high quality affordable after school dance classes in Sussex but also an unforgettable experience! Offering a creative place to learn new skills and exercise whilst growing confidence, self-belief and social skills.
Gingers is part of the International Dance Teachers Association, a leading dance qualifications body for professional dance teachers, with over 7000 members in over 55 countries. Gingers offers the opportunity to take regular examinations unlike most dance schools in Brighton and Hove we offer examinations every year. Making sure that syllabus work remains fresh and exciting for students.
Examinations start from 4yrs of age and can be taken in Tap, Ballet, Modern Jazz, Freestyle and Musical Theatre. On taking an exam you will be presented with a certificate and an award to keep.
The dance classes we offer are:-
Contemporary
A technical yet expressive class, this allows the dancer to explore emotions and motivations through dance. This genre of dance is extremely popular at this time, with the likes of 'Dance Moms' producing talented dancers such as Maddie Ziegler and when discussion and awareness is becoming more and more accessible due to social media.

Tap
A rhythmical and energised form of dance originating in the mid 1800s in the United states though African origin and the use of clogs. This soon evolved to metal taps and even more exploration of beats and steps. The IDTA syllabus is a great way to understand the iconic tap steps from the beginning, progressing into a strong and able dancer using only the beats of the taps to provide their very own music.

Ballet
Ballet is said to be the core of all dance, this is the genre that will gain you the poise and inner strength of a dancer. Unlike contemporary ballet has a set use of ports de bras and core lines through movement. This is a class that trains the body intensively yet remaining graceful in movement. The IDTA exercisers engage and grow the dancer into a strong centred performer.

Demi-Pointe
Demi-Pointe follows on from Ballet. Students are able to begin point from 12years of age, given that they are strong enough and have had the correct training behind them. Demi-Pointe is a class focused on the strengthening and technique prior to wearing pointe shoes. This class prepares the feet and the legs for the high demand that Pointe Work has to offer.

Freestyle
Freestyle has evolved from the classic Disco style of dance seen most in pop videos, and used by backing dancers for famous pop artists such as Little Mix, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. Street is a fun style to learn, although it still uses the technical application of steps and movements. This is a great class to get more confident with dance and allowing the dance to have some fun with it.

Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz combines all genres and techniques, it can range from upbeat and energetic to slow and gentle rhythms. This genre explores the body with expansion and relaxation,isolation's and fluidity. The IDTA syllabus captures the essence of Modern Jazz, developing a strong, flexible and versatile dancer.

We hold our dance classes at local schools and community centres, we therefore have low overheads and can pass these savings on to you!
After school clubs held at your child's school
Many of our classes are held at local schools, straight after the end of the school day. Your child can enjoy dance, and you can save on childcare!
